At the heart of every thriving church is a sense of community, care, and vision for the future. First Presbyterian of Lynchburg was excited to see a wave of young families joining their congregation, and they recognized a pressing need—one that had gone unmet for far too long. A quiet, neglected space in the back of their building, once used for storage and forgotten items, has now been beautifully transformed into something so much greater: a warm, welcoming nursery and a peaceful mothers room.

A Space Reimagined for a Growing Church

This transformation wasn’t just about aesthetics or practicality—it was about ministry. Families with infants and young children are a vital part of the life and future of any church. By providing a dedicated space where mothers can nurse or comfort their babies in privacy and peace, and where toddlers can safely play and learn, they are sending a clear message: you belong here.

Design with Purpose: Soft, Soothing, and Stimulating

When designing the mothers room, we focused on creating a serene, nurturing environment. Soft pinks, gentle greens, and natural textures work together to promote a sense of calm and quiet. Comfortable seating, soft lighting, and thoughtful touches like a changing station help make this room a restful retreat during services or gatherings.

In contrast, the nursery was designed to stimulate and engage the youngest members of the church. Bright, cheerful colors, educational toys, and interactive seating to help foster curiosity and creativity. It's a place that celebrates the joy and energy of childhood—a space where little minds can grow, laugh, and play under caring supervision.

We’re grateful for the volunteers, donors, and leaders who helped bring this vision to life. And we can’t wait to see how these new spaces continue to bless the families and help the church flourish.
